Ich mag diese kleinen bzw. kurzen Versionszahlen wirklich. Das Nokia N79 (tolles Gerät!) hat ein Firmware Update auf die Version 30.011 bekommen. Diesmal auch mit einer Pressemitteilung von Nokia zum Firmware Update. Wer ein Nokia N79 besitzt sollte sein Gerät updaten. Update wie immer u.a. über den Nokia Software Updater erhältlich.

This software release comes with stability improvements and new features that help you stay in touch with your friends. Contacts include Ovi features that allow you to locate your friends and receive updates on what they are doing. You can also chat with your friends and share your favorite places with them. Nach dem Nokia N78 hat nun auch das Nokia N82 ein Firmware Update bekommen. Welche Änderungen die neue Firmware v31.0.016 bringt, ist leider noch nicht so ganz dokumentiert. Die üblichen Kanäle werden dann in den nächsten Tagen einen Changelog erstellen. Ich bin auf das Nokia N82 Firmware Update gespannt, weil ich mein Gerät ab nächster Woche wieder nutzen werde.

Die neue Firmware soll jedoch überraschend viele Bugs beinhalten. So sagt z.B. Steve Litchfield: In my case, after upgrading, I hit lots of hangs (all involving Nokia Maps), requiring battery-out-restarts, so I used *#7370# to wipe the internal disk back to ‘factory’ status. Andere Nutzer wiederum berichten positiv von der neuen Firmware.

Das Update ist über den Nokia Software Updater erhältlich und funktioniert auch mit Geräten aus Deutschland. Welche Produktcodes das Update unterstützen, weiß ich leider nicht.

Das Nokia N78 hat lt. Dailymobile ein Firmware Update auf v20.149 bekommen. Den inoffiziellen Changelog findet ihr im Anschluss.

Standby screen:
*While scanning for wireless networks in the home screen, instead of saying “No networks found” as in the past, it says “No WLANs available”, also some other minor name changes in this menu.
*Share online icon in standby screen seems to be different
*When going back to the music player via the standby screen, it goes straight into the player without a fading in/out transition as it did before when Theme Effects are turned on (an instantaneous response). However, for going into other sections from the standby screen the fade in/out transition still occurs.
*When Music Player is operating, and seeing the track name on the screen, and then when one song ends and goes to the next track, the speed at which this happens is much improved although not flawless (there is still some lag).
*Scrolling up and down through the entries in the standby screen is very fast and not slow like before.

Call log, Contacts and calling function:
*Calling speed (from standby screen to Contacts or Call Log) and transition to call/disconnected screens much faster and improved
*Faster resume of music playback after call is ended
*Volume bar is changed from ten dotted increment to continuous coloured volume triangle (this has also been reflected in other menus and options throughout the phone)

Maps:
*Maps updated to version 2.0

Music Player:
*Much faster interface and speed through all menus
*Pressing volume keys is much improved and faster and more accurate response than before (where it may have taken time in the past for the volume level to update)
*Music controls (i.e. Rewind, Fast forward, play/pause, stop) are no longer the same colour as the matching theme, now it is just the same light green colour across all themes
*Visualisations are still a bit slow, but faster than before

Photos:
*Transition into the Photos application is much faster than before
*Scrolling through photos and videos and the like is still jerky and thumbnails still take a while to be updated from pixelated to clear thumbnails

Settings:
*In Themes, there is a new theme called Music (very yucky looking I must admit)
*Power saver now includes “Now playing” option, so when the backlight goes off, the currently playing song and time are displayed on the screen for a number of seconds before disappearing. This occurs before keypad lock is activated, and when any key is pressed, the names of the song light up (in green or red). Also when going from one track to the next while this screensaver is activated, the date is displayed briefly.

Other:
*General speed improvements across all menus and applications
*Help function is much faster and speed improved
*New help topics added to Help function
*Speed dial now works without any lag
*New RealPlayer interface and version updated (where the RealPlayer screen is no longer displayed but grey bars on top and bottom of the video)
*About application has been updated for the year dates so that they are all “2009″.
*Installation of applications and refresh of available applications within the Application Manager is much improved and faster (although icons for installed applications are now not displayed)

Das Firmware Update für das Nokia E71 von v110.07.127 auf v200.21.118 gibt es bislang nur für Geräte mit einem Euro-Produktcode. Die neue Version gibt es wie immer über den Nokia Software Updater. Im letzten Artikel hab ich ja schon auf das kommende Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Firmware Update hingewiesen. Wann das Update kommt ist noch nicht bekannt. Es gibt zumindest schon einen unbestätigten Changelog.

Ist jetzt irgendwie auch nichts tolles dabei. Das Wichtigste scheint mir noch “It is not possible to access the TV services” zu sein. Geht aber bei uns ja sowieso nicht bzw. nicht mehr lange. Die Lizenzen werden neu vergeben. Alles eine große Scheiße!

Das Nokia N95 8GB hat das erwartete Firmware Update auf Version 30.0.018 bekommen. Das Update ist bislang nicht über den Nokia Software Updater zu beziehen und daher nur im Nokia Service Point verfügbar.

Update: Die Firmware ist nun über den Nokia Software Updater (NSU) verfügbar.

Wer die Firmware jetzt schon installieren möchte, kann es jedoch selbst machen und zwar ohne den Software Updater. Dazu brauchst Du die Firmware Datei und Phoenix. » mehr dazu?.

Ich würde jedoch empfehlen zu warten! Das Update sollte es in einigen Tagen auch über den Software Updater geben.

Die Nokia PC Suite für die N-Series Geräte wurde aktualisiert. Vor der Installation der neuen PC Suite, sollte die alte Version komplett deinstalliert werden. Der Download ist, wie üblich, in den Nokia Beta Labs möglich.

Einen Changelog sucht man, wie immer bei Nokia, vergebens. Würde mich über Feedback zur N-Series PC Suite freuen. Ich selbst nutze sie nämlich nicht.

Die Applikation die Python auf Series60 Handys bringt, PyS60, wurde einem Update unterzogen. Es gibt schon einige Anwendungen für Symbian, die auf Python basieren. Bei Interesse könnt ihr PyS60 heute schon installieren. Die Anwendungen werde ich morgen vorstellen. Der 23. Januar 2008 wird ganz dem Python Projekt gewidmet.

Der YouTube Player für Symbian Handys “emTube” wurde einem Update unterzogen. Neben Bugfixes wie z.B. die Behebung des 404-Fehlers (404 Not Found) wurden auch neue Funktionen wie z.B. das abspielen von restricted Content (Videos nur ab 18 Jahren sichtbar) hinzugefügt.

Anbei der komplette Changelog für emTube 1.0.10. Der Download ist auf der Herstellerseite möglich.

Von der ShutUP Alternative FlipSilent ist nun eine neue Beta verfügbar. Die Version nennt sich “FlipSilent 1.03 Beta” und unterstützt 10 verschiedene Sprachen. Von Englisch und Deutsch bis Dänisch und Portugiesisch. FlipSilent ist derzeit mit folgenden Handys nutzbar: N95, N95 8GB und N82.

Die neue Version gibt es derzeit nur für “all donators”. Eine kleine Spende für den Hersteller von FlipSilent ist z.B. über PayPal möglich. Später soll die Version auch für die breite Öffentlichkeit zugänglich gemacht werden.
