Nokia N900: Update und Ovi Store

Auch das Nokia N900 hat in dieser Woche ein Firmware Update bekommen. Das Update bringt das Nokia N900 auf v44.1 (1.2009.44.1) und enthält zumindest mehr Änderungen als die Updates für das Nokia N86 und E72.

Die neue Version bietet u.a. Änderungen an der Performance sowie neue Icons im Programm-Manager. Endlich erinnert sich der Programm-Manager auch an die Position vor der Installation einr App. Nach der Installation einer Anwendung sprang der Programm-Manager auf dem Nokia N900 wieder zurück an die erste Position in der Liste, nun merkt er sich wo ich war, unnötiges scrollen fällt damit weg!

Mit dem neuen Firmware Update funktioniert auch der Red Pill Modus nicht mehr. Weitere Änderungen:

* kernel contains one fix, which is allowing HAM to trigger ubifs to higher compression level for the SSU update.
* browser contains one fix, which is browser UA string to say that it’s pr1.0.1 device.
* GTK contains one fix, which is dropping the icon cache support.
* application manager contains 37 fixes, mostly related to SSU stability
* And a bit related to the new look of the app grid.

Zugriff auf den Ovi Store nun möglich!

Endlich ist der Zugriff auf den Nokia Ovi Store auch vom Nokia N900 möglich. Derzeit gibt es zwar noch nicht die Applikation für den Ovi Store, man kann aber die Webseite nutzen, bekommt die derzeit verfügbaren Apps für das N900 angezeigt und kann sie direkt runterladen und installieren.

Download und Installation im Programm-Manager

Das Update kann mit einem “Over-The-Air” Update vom Programm-Manager runtergeladen und installiert werden. Es ist rund 20MB groß und bietet ingesamt einige nützliche Neuerungen. Bin gespannt auf die nächsten Updates für das Nokia N900.

Firmware Updates für Nokia N86 und E72

Nokia hat in den vergangenen Tagen dem Nokia N86 8MP sowie dem kürzlich getestetem Nokia E72 jeweils ein Firmware Update verpasst. In den neuen Versionen findet man kleinere Änderungen und das Übliche “Bugs gefixt, verbessert die Performance“.

Nokia E72: v.22.007

Die aktuellste Firmware für das Nokia E72 ist nun v22.007 und ist über den Nokia Software Updater verfügbar. Alle Daten bleiben bei einem Update erhalten, trotzdem könnte ein Backup nicht schaden!

Nokia N86 8MP: v21.006

Die aktuellste Firmware für das Nokia N86 8MP ist die v21.006. Das Update ist über ein “Over-The-Air-Update” verfügbar. Einfach bei bestehender Datenverbindung (UMTS/WLAN) die *#0000# wählen und in dem Menü auf “Aktualisierungen suchen” klicken. Alle Daten bleiben auch hier erhalten, ich hatte bei meinem Update keinerlei Probleme.

Firmware Updates für ältere Geräte

Nokia hat heute Firmware Updates für Geräte veröffenticht, die manche evtl. sogar schon vergessen haben: Nokia N82 und N95. Für das normale Nokia N95 (Classic) wurde v35.0.02 veröffentlicht, für das N95 8GB 35.0.01 und die nun aktuellste Firmware für das Nokia N82 ist v35.0.002.

Leider gibt es mal wieder keinen Changelog und somit kann ich euch nicht über die Neuerungen informieren, werde sie aber ergänzen falls jemand etwas dazu veröffentlicht. Vergesst nicht eure Daten vor dem Update zu sichern! Das Firmware Update bekommt ihr wie immer über den Nokia Software Updater.

Nokia 5800 XM: Firmware Update auf v31.0.101

Das Nokia 5800 XpressMusic hat ein Firmware Update auf v31.0.101 bekommen. Das Update beinhaltet keinerlei Neuerungen sondern nur kleinere Bugfixes und somit gibt es leider auch keinen Changelog. Das Update ist derzeit nur über den Nokia Software Updater verfügbar, daher muss man den Umweg über den PC zwingend gehen um die Firmware zu aktualisieren.

Nokia N86: Firmware Update auf v20.115

Nokia hat für das Nokia N86 8MP eine neue Firmware veröffentlicht. Das Update bringt die Firmware des Nokia N86 auf v20.115 und ist u.a. über ein Over-The-Air-Update (FOTA) verfügbar. Einfach die *#0000# tippen und nach Updates suchen. Das Firmware Update selbst enthält u.a. Verbesserungen der Kamera und weitere Bugfixes. Leider ist mein Nokia N86 derzeit außer gefecht und so kann ich das Firmware Update noch nicht installieren. Schade.

Changelog

Camera improvements:

* Improved still image quality
* Improved video quality
* Face detection added
* Red-eye removal added (Nokia note: “this is image processing which removes the red-eye. You need to be in red-eye reduction flash mode for it to be operational. Other flash modes it is disabled as there is a small shot to shot impact due to the extra image processing.”)
* New focus point indication – this shows where in the scene the camera is focussing
* Improved Close-up focus (Nokia note: “As a result you will find in most situations you can focus much closer than before. The new focus point indication will also help in confirming which part of your subject is used for critical focus checking”)

* In addition, there’s more free space on C: (around 70MB when you start fresh), there’s also more free RAM (around 65MB) after booting and the N86 feels faster

Das Nokia 5800 XpressMusic hat ein Firmware Update bekommen. Das Update auf v31.008 aktualisiert vor allem Programme wie Nokia Maps (Update auf Ovi Maps 3.1) und den Ovi Store Client (auf 1.05). Weitere Verbesserungen sind u.a. die sonst auch immer genannten “performance improvements“.

Nokia N79: Firmware Update auf v30.011

Ich mag diese kleinen bzw. kurzen Versionszahlen wirklich. Das Nokia N79 (tolles Gerät!) hat ein Firmware Update auf die Version 30.011 bekommen. Diesmal auch mit einer Pressemitteilung von Nokia zum Firmware Update. Wer ein Nokia N79 besitzt sollte sein Gerät updaten. Update wie immer u.a. über den Nokia Software Updater erhältlich.

This software release comes with stability improvements and new features that help you stay in touch with your friends. Contacts include Ovi features that allow you to locate your friends and receive updates on what they are doing. You can also chat with your friends and share your favorite places with them. This release also includes improved video stabilisation. To get this software through your device, type in *#0000# on the home screen or go to Device Manager. Nokia E75: Firmware Update auf v110.48.125

Das Nokia E75 hat ein neues Firmware Update auf die Version 110.48.125 erhalten. Einen richtigen Changelog gibt es bislang noch nicht und ich konnte bei meiner ersten Tour durch das Handy auch keine großartigen Neuerungen feststellen. Update ohne PC (Over The Air – OTA) hat geklappt und die Daten sind u.a. dank UDP (User Data Preservation) auch alle noch auf dem Handy.

Die größte Neuerung ist wohl der wegfall der “Umdrehen & Stummschalten”-Funktion (wenn das Handy klingelt dreht man es um und es ist lautlos etc.). Warum Nokia die Funktion entfernt hat frage ich mich derzeit auch!?! Hab ein deutsches Gerät von Nokia. Das Update ist also auch hier verfügbar.

Nokia N97: Ovi Store, Skype und der Rest

Das Nokia N97 wird wirklich ein Gerät welches die Zukunft von Nokia aufzeigen wird. Es bietet einen 3.5″ Touchscreen, eine 5-Megapixel-Kamera, eine echte QWERTZ-Tastatur und natürlich A-GPS sowie den ganzen anderen Kram.

Doch was macht das Nokia N97 so besonders? Nokia bringt mehr Neuerungen als auf den ersten Blick erkennbar! So kommt das Nokia N97 mit dem Ovi Store, einer Skype-Integration, der vollen Integration des eigenen Dienstes Ovi sowie mit neuen Versionen von Nokia Maps und Co.

Nokia N97: Ovi Store

Am Montag kam die erste Ankündigung zum Nokia N97 gleich am Anfang: Ab Juni steht es beim Händler! Doch wenige Minuten später die wohl wichtigste Meldung der Nokia Pressekonferenz: Der Nokia Ovi Store kommt ab Mai und das Nokia N97 wird das erste Gerät mit integriertem Nokia AppStore sein!

Der Ovi Store wird ein großes social network mit Freundesliste und Standortbestimmung mit location based content. D.h. wer sich gerade in Mailand rumtreibt, bekommt vom Store einen Reiseführer für die Stadt Mailand vorgeschlagen.

Das hört sich sehr gut an und hier hat Nokia weiter gedacht als Apple! Ich bin auf die vorgeschlagenen Anwendungen gespannt. Man kann auch sehen was die Freunde gekauft haben. So kann man dann leichter auf interessante Applikationen stoßen.

Nokia N97: Skype

Gestern kam dann die nächste Meldung: Nokia bringt Skype out of the box auf das Handy. Welches Handy bekommt diese Integration von Skype zuerst? Klar! Das Nokia N97! Die anderen Geräte bekommen das dann via Firmware Update.

Diese Art der Integration direkt in das Handy ist neu und bei Geräten wie dem iPhone für mich noch unvorstellbar! Skype läuft nicht als “externe” Applikation sondern ist direkt in der Software des Handys eingebaut. Ob Apple so eine Integration erlauben würde?

Genauer: Skype wird in die Kontaktliste integriert und wenn man zum jeweiligen Kontakt den Skype-Account einträgt, kann man seinen Status sehen und ihn direkt über Skype – via 3g oder WiFi – anrufen. Hier interessiert es mich ob ich später mit meinen Skype-Kontakten auch chatten kann.

Bei Nokia Conversations fragt jemand nach einer Integration von fring statt nur einfachem Skype. Bitte nicht! Das wäre dann feature overkill! Wer IM nutzen möchte, wird sich seine Lieblingssoftware dafür schon raussuchen.

Nokia N97: Wirklich so toll?

Jede Software hat auch ihre Macken! Der Ovi Store wurde bislang noch nicht unter richtigen Einsatzbedingungen getestet. Derzeit werden alle neuen Funktionen bzw. alle neuen Versionen von irgendwelchen Anwendungen ins Nokia N97 gesteckt (z.B. Nokia Maps 3.0)

Natürlich hört sich das auf der einen Seite ziemlich cool an, doch was ist wenn es nicht so klappt wie Nokia es möchte? Was ist wenn die Applikationen eine beschissene Performance haben? Natürlich haben wir schon gute Anwendungen von Nokia gesehen, aber auch reichlich unfertige Sachen! Ab Juni wissen wir mehr!

Nokia N97: Fast komplett

Das Nokia N97 wird zumindest für mich das neue Handy werden. Mit dem großen Display und der echten QWERTZ-Tastatur ist es optimal um mal eine eMail oder einen Artikel im Blog zu schreiben. Jetzt bräuchte ich eigentlich nur noch eine Synchronisation zwischen meinem RSS-Reader und dem Handy.

Für RSS am Mac nutze ich derzeit NetNewsWire und so wie ich es mitbekommen habe, haben die Entwickler von NetNewsWire auch eine Applikation für das iPhone veröffentlicht. RSS-Feeds die ich am Mac lese werden im iPhone nicht mehr als “neu” angezeigt. Würde natürlich auch über den Google Reader gehen. Den mag ich aber nicht!

Bislang hab ich im Handy keinen Feedreader genutzt. Aber das Nokia N97 bietet dafür – u.a. mit dem großen Display – optimale Voraussetzungen.

Nokia N97: Ovi

Ich bin auch auf die Integration von Ovi gespannt. Habe den Dienst von Nokia bislang nicht so oft bis überhaupt nicht genutzt. Aber Nokia pusht Ovi immer mehr und baut wirklich schöne Funktionen ein. Leute die das iPhone kennen, werden auch das Nokia N97 als “Webmaschine” sehen!

Das iPhone wird von den Medien als das Gerät hingestellt, welches mobiles Internet erst möglich gemacht hat (natürlich ist dies nicht so..das iPhone hat es lediglich einfacher gemacht, Informationen unterwegs abzufrufen. Medien halt..). Wenn mein Handy einen Touchscreen = ein großeres Display hat, kann ich die Inhalte im Internet viel einfacher konsumieren. Daher mein Gedanke an das N97 als “Webmaschine”…

Nokia N97: Ich freu mich!

Ihr merkt es schon: Ich freue mich auf das Nokia N97! Das Gerät bietet out of the box schon interessante Funktionen und der Ovi Store wird dem Nokia N97 etwas helfen was Verkaufszahlen bzw. Berichte in Medien angeht.

Nokia N97: Die Schwäche von Nokia wird sichtbar!

Das Nokia N97 wurde zur Nokia World im Dezember 2008 vorgestellt. Nokia meinte damals, dass das Gerät in der ersten Jahreshälfte im neuen Jahr auf den Markt kommt. Während der Nokia Pressekonferenz am Montag wurde nun der Monat Juni genannt. Das sind dann 7 Monate von der Vorstellung bis zur Markteinführung.

Das wurde auch schon von Wired angesprochen: There’s another problem, too — the handset won’t be available for another six months, time enough for the rest of the world to move on. Quelle

Qualitätssicherung? Wohl kaum! Beim Nokia N96 haben die 8 Monate Wartezeit auch nicht viel gebracht. So zumindest die Kommentare die man hier im Blog überall (z.B. hier) lesen kann.

Nokia kann die Geräte auch kurz nach der Veröffentlichung auf den Markt bringen. Das haben wir beim Nokia N85 und beim Nokia N79 gesehen. Diese Geräte kamen nur wenige Monate (waren max. 2-3 Monate) nach ihrer offiziellen Vorstellung auf den Markt. Aber vllt. hat das auch wirtschaftliche Gründe. Was meint ihr?

Ich hoffe, dass ich im Mai meine Finger an das Nokia N97 bekomme bzw. das Nokia N97 in meine Finger bekomme. Dinge die mich interessieren: Wie ist die Verarbeitung? Wie sieht die Integration von Ovi aus? Wie funktioniert der Ovi Store? Kann man auf der Tastatur schnell bzw. komfortabel schreiben? Kann ich komfortabel meine RSS-Feeds am Handy lesen? usw.

Was ist eure Meinung zum Nokia N97? Kommt das Gerät gut an? Was würdet ihr mit einem Nokia N97 machen?

Der Matthias Strack a k a bobbes (E71-Nutzer) kann noch nicht viel zum Nokia N97 sagen: “naja,meinung alleine von bildern und videos find ich schwer,aber wenns sein muss: sexy”

Endlich hat das Nokia 5800 XpressMusic ein neues Firmware Update bekommen in dem auch gleich einige Bugs ausgeschmerzt wurden. Unter das Messer kam u.a. das QWERTY/QWERTZ-Problem beim Nokia 5800 und ist nun somit auch behoben. Weitere Veränderungen im Changelog im Anschluss.

* Geo-Tagging support for both camera and the video recorder.
* HelloOx hack still works.
* Gallery loads much faster.
* Improvements to the camera.

Nokia N82: Firmware Update auf v31.0.016

Nach dem Nokia N78 hat nun auch das Nokia N82 ein Firmware Update bekommen. Welche Änderungen die neue Firmware v31.0.016 bringt, ist leider noch nicht so ganz dokumentiert. Die üblichen Kanäle werden dann in den nächsten Tagen einen Changelog erstellen. Ich bin auf das Nokia N82 Firmware Update gespannt, weil ich mein Gerät ab nächster Woche wieder nutzen werde.

Die neue Firmware soll jedoch überraschend viele Bugs beinhalten. So sagt z.B. Steve Litchfield: In my case, after upgrading, I hit lots of hangs (all involving Nokia Maps), requiring battery-out-restarts, so I used *#7370# to wipe the internal disk back to ‘factory’ status. Andere Nutzer wiederum berichten positiv von der neuen Firmware.

Das Update ist über den Nokia Software Updater erhältlich und funktioniert auch mit Geräten aus Deutschland. Welche Produktcodes das Update unterstützen, weiß ich leider nicht.

Nokia N78: Firmware Update

Das Nokia N78 hat lt. Dailymobile ein Firmware Update auf v20.149 bekommen. Den inoffiziellen Changelog findet ihr im Anschluss.

Standby screen:
*While scanning for wireless networks in the home screen, instead of saying “No networks found” as in the past, it says “No WLANs available”, also some other minor name changes in this menu.
*Share online icon in standby screen seems to be different
*When going back to the music player via the standby screen, it goes straight into the player without a fading in/out transition as it did before when Theme Effects are turned on (an instantaneous response). However, for going into other sections from the standby screen the fade in/out transition still occurs.
*When Music Player is operating, and seeing the track name on the screen, and then when one song ends and goes to the next track, the speed at which this happens is much improved although not flawless (there is still some lag).
*Scrolling up and down through the entries in the standby screen is very fast and not slow like before.

Call log, Contacts and calling function:
*Calling speed (from standby screen to Contacts or Call Log) and transition to call/disconnected screens much faster and improved
*Faster resume of music playback after call is ended
*Volume bar is changed from ten dotted increment to continuous coloured volume triangle (this has also been reflected in other menus and options throughout the phone)

Maps:
*Maps updated to version 2.0

Music Player:
*Much faster interface and speed through all menus
*Pressing volume keys is much improved and faster and more accurate response than before (where it may have taken time in the past for the volume level to update)
*Music controls (i.e. Rewind, Fast forward, play/pause, stop) are no longer the same colour as the matching theme, now it is just the same light green colour across all themes
*Visualisations are still a bit slow, but faster than before

Photos:
*Transition into the Photos application is much faster than before
*Scrolling through photos and videos and the like is still jerky and thumbnails still take a while to be updated from pixelated to clear thumbnails

Settings:
*In Themes, there is a new theme called Music (very yucky looking I must admit)
*Power saver now includes “Now playing” option, so when the backlight goes off, the currently playing song and time are displayed on the screen for a number of seconds before disappearing. This occurs before keypad lock is activated, and when any key is pressed, the names of the song light up (in green or red). Also when going from one track to the next while this screensaver is activated, the date is displayed briefly.

Other:
*General speed improvements across all menus and applications
*Help function is much faster and speed improved
*New help topics added to Help function
*Speed dial now works without any lag
*New RealPlayer interface and version updated (where the RealPlayer screen is no longer displayed but grey bars on top and bottom of the video)
*About application has been updated for the year dates so that they are all “2009″.
*Installation of applications and refresh of available applications within the Application Manager is much improved and faster (although icons for installed applications are now not displayed)

*Carousel menu has new options under each heading
*Navi-wheel seems to have been tweaked a bit more
*Background light settings actually work now

Nokia E71: Erfahrungen mit der neuen Firmware?

Am Montag hab ich die Informationen zum Nokia E71 Firmware Update gepostet. Hat jemand schon Erfahrungen mit der neuen Firmware gemacht? Auf meinem Nokia E71 war die neue Firmware schon drauf. Hab daher keinen direkten Vergleich.

Ich konnte jedoch folgendes feststellen: Der Empfang des E71 ist schlechter als z.B. der Empfang beim Nokia N82. Was meint ihr? Ist es bei euch auch so? Habe mit meiner D1-Datenkarte bislang mehr EDGE statt 3G Connections gehabt. Werde morgen mal in die Stadt fahren und das dort checken.

Sonst bin ich echt zufrieden mit dem Nokia E71 und tippe auch mal während der Busfahrt einige eMails..

Im letzten Artikel hab ich ja schon auf das kommende Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Firmware Update hingewiesen. Wann das Update kommt ist noch nicht bekannt. Es gibt zumindest schon einen unbestätigten Changelog.

Das Nokia N79 hat ein saftiges Update bekommen. Das Firmware Update kommt sogar mit einem Changelog (nicht üblich) und auch dieser ist soooo schön saftig. Ja Ja, ich hör ja schon auf damit. Hätte das N79 gerne noch hier um das Update zu testen. Update wie immer über den Nokia Software Updater erhältlich. Changelog im Anschluss.

Heute ist eine neue Nokia N96 Firmware, v12.043, erschienen. Ich update mein Nokia N96 gerade “Over The Air” und werde dann berichten. Thx to Jaspp.net

Update: Firmware Update erfolgreich abgeschlossen. Hat ohne Probleme via WLAN geklappt. Handy scheint bisschen flüssiger zu laufen – kann aber auch nur Einbildung sein.

Update 2: Steve redet von einem “big firmware update”. Meine ersten Erfahrungen werden bestätigt: Improved WiFi Performance. Connects faster, and Range Improved. Main Camera Improvements to focus. (Used to be too fast). Menu Navigation much smoother, and no lagging.

Update 3: Jetzt auch mit Changelog. Den findet Ihr im Anschluss. Thx to TSB.

* During boot, we recommend to wait for battery bar to show up prior to using media keys to ensure they are responsive.
* Ngage pre-selects wrong access point in certain operator networks, in these instances user needs to reconfigure Ngage access points manually from within Ngage settings menu.

Aufgrund einigen unerwarteten Problemen mit der Hardware (zuerst wollte die Kamera nicht, dann iMovie) gibt es noch kein Video zum Navigator. Werde versuchen es in den nächsten Tagen nachzuliefern. Sry.

Jetzt gibt es auch einen Changelog zum Nokia N96 Firmware Update vom 7. Oktober. Update ist kein Major Update. Daher auch keine tollen Neuerungen bzw. neue Features. Changelog wie immer im Anschluss.

Ist jetzt irgendwie auch nichts tolles dabei. Das Wichtigste scheint mir noch “It is not possible to access the TV services” zu sein. Geht aber bei uns ja sowieso nicht bzw. nicht mehr lange. Die Lizenzen werden neu vergeben. Alles eine große Scheiße!

Laut p@sco (jaspp.net) ist eine neue Nokia N96 Firmware über den Nokia Software Updater (NSU) verfügbar. Die Version mit der Nummer 11.101 (die bis dahin aktuelle Nummer war 11.018).

Installiere gerade den Nokia Software Updater und werde dann mal updaten. ~~Statusupdate folgt.~~ Update hat ohne Probleme via NSU funtkioniert. Es wurden anscheinend einige Punkte an der Mobile-TV Applikation verbesser/verändert. Hier noch die Bestätigung von Nokia.

Das Nokia N95 8GB hat das erwartete Firmware Update auf Version 30.0.018 bekommen. Das Update ist bislang nicht über den Nokia Software Updater zu beziehen und daher nur im Nokia Service Point verfügbar.

Update: Die Firmware ist nun über den Nokia Software Updater (NSU) verfügbar.

Wer die Firmware jetzt schon installieren möchte, kann es jedoch selbst machen und zwar ohne den Software Updater. Dazu brauchst Du die Firmware Datei und Phoenix. » mehr dazu?.

Ich würde jedoch empfehlen zu warten! Das Update sollte es in einigen Tagen auch über den Software Updater geben.

Nokia 6220 Classic: Firmware Update auf 3.23

Nokia malt nun endlich auch mit leichteren Zahlen. Das Nokia 6220 Classic hat ein Firmware Update auf Version 3.23 bekommen (richtig..keine Firmware die 24.40.00 heißt :-)). Beim Nokia N78 ist es auch so.

With new update; you’re able to use Share Online service. With this update, photos are processing faster than the older version.

Version 3.23 fixes some bugs, offers improvements with photo processing, enables Share Online on the standby screen and gives the 6220 some speed improvements as well. If you own a 6220 you should give it a try and update your 6220 using the NSU.

Nokia E51: Firmware Update

Heute gibt es anscheinend kaum Changelogs. Nun wurde auch das Nokia E51 einem Update unterzogen. Auch für dieses Firmware Update von v100.34.30 auf v200.34.36 gibt es bislang noch keine Liste der Änderungen. Firmware ist im Nokia Software Updater zu beziehen.

Eine Sache kann man jedoch jetzt schon sagen: Es sind keine neuen “Bahnbrechenden”-Features vorhanden. Also z.B. kein FlashLite 3.

Das Nokia E61i hat auch mal ein Firmware Update bekommen. Mit der neuen Firmware kommt der Versionssprung von v1.0633.22.05 zu v3.0633.69.00. Was genau die Änderungen sind, ist derzeit nicht bekannt. Das Update ist über den Nokia Software Updater verfügbar.
